Senior Internship FAQ
Who is the Senior Internship for?
The Senior Internship is for high school seniors who are curious about working in ministry and want to be developed personally and professionally during their senior year.
How long is the experience?
Each senior intern will develop a custom schedule, including start date and end date, with their team during the interview process. Typically, the earliest a rising senior can start is in May, and they will end in April.
How many hours per week do interns work?
It’s very important that interns are a contributing member of their teams. Each team will have a different standard for what this looks like, but ideally a senior intern would be involved for an entire Sunday (arriving when the team arrives, working the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. services, and then helping clean up), and at least one or two afternoons during the week. Since the team decides what this standard should be, it is up to their discretion. There is, of course, flexibility for school breaks, travel plans, etc., but those should be communicated to the team at least a week ahead of time.
Where can I be a Senior Intern?
Senior interns who apply to the environment where they currently volunteer will be considered first. For example, someone who volunteers in Waumba Land and applies to be a senior intern for Waumba Land will be considered before someone who does not currently volunteer for Waumba Land.
Can I be a Senior Intern for InsideOut, even though I attend?
Yes! We love senior interns in all of our environments! InsideOut is unique because you will be a senior intern for the environment you are a part of. You and your team will discuss a schedule that allows you to contribute to the wins of the team and still benefit from all the amazing experiences that come with being a senior in InsideOut.
Is the Senior Internship paid?
The Senior Internship is not paid. This is a volunteer development program that exists to mutually benefit the senior and the church.
What will I learn?
Senior interns will learn a diverse set of skills. Not only will they learn practical and professional skills that will be transferable no matter what path they take in life (such as professionalism, communication, attention to detail, leadership, vision casting, leading a group of people, etc.), we will walk them through monthly development content designed to thoughtfully challenge them intellectually, personally, and spiritually.
